Summary

[edit]
Description
English: King's College and the Founder's Fountain - Cambridge The fountain, by H. H. Armstead (1874-79)comprises bronze figures on Portland stone with granite steps below. Situated in the College's Founder's Court it features a statue of Henry VI in his regalia on its top with one of 'Religion' seated below him on the left with 'Philosophy' on the right. A smaller figure in the middle is of a Victorian favourite, a boy against a shell background with two dolphins with another on the opposite face. Shields of King's and Eton Colleges are carved on the stone on each side of the uppermost basin. This represents Henry's wish that King's scholars should be drawn from Eton which he had founded earlier.
