Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Part of St Helen's church, Kilnsea, East Riding of Yorkshire, England, seen from the southwest
This small church, dedicated to St Helen, was a replacement for the original St Helen's church that fell into the sea progressively between 1824 and 1831 - a victim of the constantly eroding Holderness coastline. The new church, designed by William Burges, was built in 1864 incorporating some stones from the old church. Kilnsea, however, is a very small community and by the end of the 20th century was no longer able to sustain a church of its own, so this building held its last service in June 1993, before being declared redundant. The nearest church now once again being at Easington.
