| Description | Erected in the 10th century, the Round Tower probably replaced an earlier round tower on the same foundation. The tower is built of granite with a four foot deep foundation. There is a fine Romanesque style doorway three metres off the ground built of red sandstone. The tower is thirty five metres high making it the second tallest round tower in Ireland. One can climb to the top of the tower affording excellent views of Kildare and the surrounding counties. |
