Description:

Deutsch: Historische Stadtansicht Kiels durch Georg Braun und Franz Hogenberg (1588; Format: 48 × 33 cm). Blickrichtung nach Norden zur Ostsee; links das Westufer, rechts das Ostufer der Kieler Förde. Deutlich ist die Insellage der Stadt zwischen der Förde im Osten und dem westlich umschließenden Stadtgraben zu erkennen, dem späteren Kleinen Kiel, der unmittelbar mit der Förde verbunden ist. Ein Rudiment dieser Verbindung stellt heute (2011) noch der Alte Bootshafen dar. Im Zentrum die Nicolai-Kirche; den nordöstlichen Stadtrand unmittelbar an der Förde markiert das Kieler Schloss (rechts oben).
