English: Place: Pingtung, Taiwan
Korean cars initially sold in mediocre numbers in Taiwan. In the last years Hyundai became a brand with a decent market share thanks to improved quality and attractive designs. The most special older Korean car that I've seen is a Hyundai Sonata of around 1990, but I wasn't able to take a picture. This is the only Sephia I've seen so far, the first generation Sportage sold in reasonable numbers, just like the Picanto (called Eurostar) and Carens MPV of around 2003. Kia probably stopped assembling cars in or importing cars to Taiwan. SsangYong still has dealerships in the country. Daewoo's Matiz, Lanos and Nubira can be seen on the road, but the brand was replaced by the Formosa band which assembled the Matiz and Magnus (Evanda). About the Sephia: the Taiwanese tropical climate is good for testing the paint quality of cars. It seems the car has failed for the test. |
