Chinese name: 起亚K2 (qǐyà K2) Year of launch: 2011 The Kia K2 was launched in China in 2011 as a successor to the second generation Rio and is based on the Hyundai Accent/Verna platform. Unlike the Accent/Verna/Solaris, the Kia K2 was only marketed in China and in Russia, where they confusingly named it Kia Rio. Both a sedan and less popular hatchback are offered. The Kia K2 is one of Kia's most popular cars on the Chinese market, selling over 140,000 examples each year ever since 2012. Late 2016 Kia launched the second generation K2. |
