Summary
[edit]DescriptionKhoshekh the 23" Giant Panda (20002045620).jpg |
I thought I would never finish this guy! :D I kept going back to the drawing board to revise limbs. I made little clay models for new arms and legs and feet, then made patterns that I drew onto the clay (I can't lie: that part was fun). I wanted Khoshekh to have that overfed and lazy look that my Great Pyrenees has. Details about this guy: ~ 23 inches tall (Standing Height, but really, he can't stand on his own, because he has weighting in his arms and legs, and a full belly). His head would have been large enough to make a really tall bear, but he's got a body positive attitude and refuses to feel bad about his healthy panda shape. Panda... should be my spirit animal. ~ White parts are super dense Steiff Alpaca in a cream (shaded all over with a beaver-Great-Pyrenees type colorscheme -- once again, like my dog). ~ Dark parts are made with high-end discontinued premium European Faux fur called Tissavel. The fur has a charcoal base coat, with shiny guardhairs that are alternating tan and silvery (so there are variations of color all over his coat). This was the last I had in this material, and I'm sad that I had to use it all, but he was worth it. :) ~ He has premium handpainted glass eyes-- I bought them already painted by the pros at Edinburh Imports. ~ His paw pads are inset faux suede with sculpted toes, handshaded. ~ He has an embroidered Pearl Cotton nose, sealed between layers -- and on top -- with organic beeswax (don't know if that really matters, unless you're going to lick him). THEN, for kicks, I dusted his nose with little PearlEx shimmer powder. It looks really nice with the multicolored fur. ~ He was stuffed with premium "SIlky" Polyfil which is super squishy and doesn't bunch up like the standard Polyfil. ~ Khoshekh is weighted to 5 pounds (I would have sworn it was more, until I weighed him) with copper-coated steel shot in the arms, legs and belly. The shot in the belly is in a mesh pouch to prevent it from wandering through the stuffing.
