Description

Khichdi is a dish that pre-cooks rice, pulses, veggies and other ingredients. It is a comfort food, often eaten by those recuperating from illness, upset stomach, fever or other injury.

Eggs or meat are not commonly added to Khichdi, but sometimes are. In UK, these are known as Kedgeree.

Rice is common, but other grains are sometimes substituted.

Pongal is another related dish with similar preparation technique.
