Summary

[edit]
Description Family statuary group of Isetnofret (wife of Ramses II) and his sons. Limestone. Origin: probably Memphis area. New Kingdom, 19th dynasty, reign of Ramses II (1279 to 1213 BC). Louvre Museum (N 2272). On the obverse of this group, unfortunately very damaged, were three mummiform figures representing Isetnofret and his two eldest sons: Ramses and Khaemouaset. On the reverse is a very erudite text on the relation of the stellar world to the mysteries of the rebirth of Osiris in the underworld. In this context, Isetnofret is likened to Isis, wife of Osiris, and Khaemouaset to their son Horus.
