Description
English: Towards greater maritime consciousness amongst populace in coastal areas, visit to training schools at SNC, Kochi and a Day at Sea was organised for 20 MLAs and nine State Govt officials of Kerala from 27- 28 October 2022. A brief overview of operational and training aspects of Indian Navy with emphasis on maritime strengths and challenges were provided. Vice Admiral MA Hampiholi, CINC, SNC interacted and sensitised them wrt maritime domain awareness and imperatives of maritime security challenges. During visit to training schools, various training simulators and aids were demonstrated. At Joint Operation Centre, Kochi, coastal security organisation of Kerala along with the role of concerned stake holders were explained. At INS Dronacharya, MLAs had first hand experience of the small arms simulator. They also visited indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant. On 28 October 2022, MLAs and State Govt Officials embarked onboard major frontline warships INS Chennai and INS Delhi for Day at Sea. The day long event witnessed participation of Indian Navy Ships Tir, Trishul, Investigator, Sunayna and Kalpeni demonstrating wide spectrum of maritime operations, which included live demonstration of combat drills, air operations, joint manoeuvres and replenishment at sea. Four MLAs had a thrilling experience of personnel transfer during replenishment at sea. The event culminated with the traditional steam past by the participating ships. The interaction of the people's representative of the state with SNC on this occasion will go a long way in furthering aim to strengthen civil - military relationship.
