Description

Another stitched together panorama, the unattractive walls of the castle partially hidden behind a veil of trees.

It will be interesting to see what happens to this place. I don’t know who owns it or whether they want to sell it, but it is lovely site in a very attractive part of Scotland, and could be rebuilt into a superb house again. While it is a Schedule B Listed Building, it is such an amorphous mass of styles and periods, that a renovator might get a fair amount of latitude to decide what style they want to use, with comparatively little interference from Historic Scotland.

In the meantime it remains the haunt of pigeons and crows by day, and the spirits of the Gordons and the ancient Lords of Galloway by night.
