Summary
[edit]DescriptionKemble Station, with Diesel contrasting with Steam geograph-2433281-by-Ben-Brooksbank.jpg |
English: Kemble Station, with Diesel contrasting with Steam. View southward, towards Swindon; ex-GWR Swindon - Gloucester main line, junction of branches to Cirencester and Tetbury. Gloucester Depot's 'Castle' No. 5017, which was built in 7/32 as 'St Donat's Castle' but was renamed in 4/54, in honour of the bravery in the Korean War of the local Regiment, as 'The Gloucestershire Regiment 28th 61st', is arriving with the 13.45 Paddington - Cheltenham express. By contrast, on the Up line is nearly new (7/61) D7001, a Beyer-Peacock Hymek Type 2 B-B Diesel-Hydraulic working a stopping train from Cheltenham. In 1962 you could still change into connecting trains for Cirencester or Tetbury, but only for another year or two. |
