Summary

[edit]
Description The intersection of Oregon 42 at Carnes Road (Roberts Creek Road), commonly known as Kelly’s Corner, has seen a large number of traffic crashes over the past few decades. Many of these crashes are related to the “dilemma zone,” when a traffic signal turns from green to yellow and a driver must quickly decide whether to stop or proceed through the intersection. Decisions drivers make in the dilemma zone may put them at risk of either running a light that turns red or getting rear-ended by stopping too quickly. The Oregon Department of Transportation will install new hardware and sensors that adjust the timing of the traffic signal phases. During the green phase, the new traffic signal system will look for natural gaps in oncoming traffic before switching from green to yellow. This is expected to reduce the number of rear-end crashes and vehicles running red lights since fewer drivers will be caught in a dilemma zone. This equipment will be installed at the Kelly’s Corner signal, as well as the signals at Rolling Hills Road and Grant Smith Road.

Public domain
This work has been released into the public domain by the author on Flickr, where the author has declared it as a "Public Domain Work" and tagged it with the Creative Commons Public Domain Mark.
Public domain
The Public Domain Mark (PDM) is not a copyright license, but a symbol used to indicate that a work is in the public domain. When it is applied by the author or the copyright holder, community consensus has decided such works as being public domain in the US and countries where it is legally possible to release own work to the public domain. In the countries where this is not possible, the copyright status of the work remains undetermined.
If a file is tagged with Public Domain Mark by someone other than the author or the copyright holder, a more specific copyright tag such as one found at Commons:Copyright tags/General public domain must be applied. If this is your own work, please use {{Cc-zero}} instead.

This image, originally posted to Flickr, was reviewed on 24 June 2023 by the administrator or reviewer Abzeronow, who confirmed that it was available on Flickr under the stated license on that date.
