DescriptionKeating Channel, west of Cherry, 2013 10 05 A.jpg | Looking west from the Cherry Street bridge over the Keating Channel. To the south there is the Essroc cement silos. Raw cement is brought in via the Stephen B. Roman, and the Metis. To the Northwest can be seen downtown Toronto. The vacant lot to the north was expropriated about 20 years ago. It was once the campus of Victory Soya Mills, with two large grain silos at the western end. For several decades from the properties abandonment, and long after its expropriation, a colony of homeless people lived on the site, which had become overgrown with shrubs and small trees that provided privacy. | |||

The Stephen B. Roman carries raw cement from quarries near Kingston Ontario.
The barge Metis also carries raw cement, she has a notch in her stern to make it easier to push her using a tugboat.
Yes, the CN Tower, the other highrise structures in this image are slightly closer, making them appear slightly taller.
This flatter spot on the Toronto Islands is Billy Bishop Island Airport.
Base of two of the Essroc cement silos
These construction cranes are in the west Don Lands, and might be constructing the 2014 Pan Am Athelete's village. It you look closely you can count nine cranes in this image.
