English: El volcán Quilotoa, situado en el cantónPujilí, provincia de Cotopaxi, posee una caldera llena de agua de 3 kilómetros (2 millas) de diámetro que se formó por el colapso de este volcán seguido por una erupción hace aproximadamente 812 años, lo que produjo un flujo piroclástico y lahares (flujos de lodo) que alcanzaron el Océano Pacífico, lo que depositó cenizas volcánicas a través del aire a lo largo de los Andes septentrionales.
La cuenca de la laguna se encuentra a 3.500 m.s.n.m. y el pico más alto del volcán a 3,914 m.s.n.m. Desde entonces la caldera ha acumulado un lago de cráter 250 m de profundidad, y cuyos minerales disueltos le han conferido un tono verdoso. Hay fumarolas en el fondo del lago y existen manantiales calientes por la banda este del volcán. Se puede realizar varios deportes como el senderismo alrededor del volcán, paseo en bote o kayak y Camping.
