Description
English: This meetinghouse near Manheim was built in 1860 on a 97-acre farm donated by Abraham Cassel Kauffman, a wealthy Mennonite bachelor farmer / politician / banker. Kauffman was elected to the Pennsylvania Legislature at Harrisburg for three sessions, where he served from 1835 to 1844. The Kauffman congregation owns the farm, even today, across the road. He also was the first president of the Manheim National Bank. Plus he donated land in Manheim known today as Kauffman Park. In his 1886 will, he stipulated that the "net proceeds" of his farm were to "be used as a poor fund" for the less fortunate. Street address: 1355 Lancaster Rd, Manheim, PA 17545
