English: KAUAI, Hawaii - Coast Guardsmen from Station Kauai retrieve a self-locating datum marker buoy, used during a search and rescue exercise, aboard a 47-foot Motor Life Boat off the east coast of Kauai, Oct. 6, 2011.
Coast Guardsmen from Station Kauai, Sector Honolulu and Air Station Barbers point joined members of Kauai Fire Department, Ocean Safety and the Civil Air Patrol to perform the exercise. The purpose is to improve communication, coordination and interagency relations. Coast Guard assets included crews aboard the MLB, the 110-foot Coast Guard Cutter Galveston Island and an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter. Local agency assets included a helicopter and a boat from the fire department, jet skis from Ocean Safety and a small airplane from the Civil Air Patrol.
