Description
Deutsch: Kasten für Nähnadeln in der Form eines Beilegerofens.

Buchen- und Eichenholz, 1802, aus Nordfriesland, Schleswig, H 11 cm, B 4,8 cm, L 11,2 cm, Stiftung Schleswig-Holsteinische Landesmuseen Schloss Gottorf, Zentralmagazin.

"Das Kästchen ist aus dem vollen Buchenholz geschnitzt, die Deckplatte des „Ofens“ bildet einen Schiebedeckel aus Eichenholz. In den massiven Block sind runde Löcher als Behälter für Nadeln gebohrt. Der geriefte Teil des „Ofenkastens“ entspricht dem Teil der eisernen Ofenplatten, der in die Wand eingebaut zu denken ist. Ein gewisser Widerspruch ergibt sich aus dem Vorhandensein von vier Füßen; eigentlich sollten es nur zwei sein. Blumenvasen kommen als Dekoration wirklicher Öfen nicht vor. Ihre Form lässt darauf schließen, dass weitere Nadeldosen aus Nordfriesland von demselben Schnitzer stammen; offenbar hatte er sich auf Behältnisse dieser Art spezialisiert.“ (In: Ernst Schlee: Die Volkskunst in Deutschland, 1.
