Die obere Karte (preuß. Landesaufnahme, ca. 1850) zeigt die Situation vor Beginn des Torfabbaus. Das als Sumpfgelände bekannte Rieth stellt den Rest eines verlandeten Sees dar. Die untere Karte (Ausschnitt aus der TK25) zeigt die aktuelle Situation am Nordrand der Gemeinde Niederdorla. Die Strich-Punkt-Linie symbolisiert die Gemarkungsgrenze zu Oberdorla. Das Museumsgebäude mit Parkplatz befindet sich am Ortsrand von Niederdorla (Markierung: rotes M)
