| Description |
English: Inside the tomb of Ebu'l Hasan Harakânî, attached to the Evliya Mosque. It was built during the conquest of Kars by Alpaslan, 31 years after he [I suppose: Ebul] was martyred in 1033. Originally a simple tuff stone building in the garden of the Evliya Mosque until 1996, the Harakani Foundation during the restoration of the Evliya mosque removed the walls and the sarcophagus of Evliya was enclosed in a wooden frame. A domed tomb was built in the area where the tomb is located. An Ottoman inscription dated 1617, located at the entrance door of the old tomb, was placed at the entrance door of the domed tomb in its original form. The inscription was by Mehmet DERVİŞ Pasha in Hijri 1026, AD 1617, and read in Ottoman Turkish “merkad-i nev gülzar”, “this is the place where he sleeps ”. There are 21 more tombs around the tomb of Ebul Hasan Harakani in the domed mausoleum in Evliya mosque complex. (Shortened ands translated text from Harakani Foundation site). |
