| Description | The Karori Sanctuary is surrounded by a fence that keeps introduced predators from disturbing wildlife re-introduced in the Sanctuary. These species had disappeared from the North Island due to the prevalence of introduced predators; within the fence, several re-introduced specimens are surviving and propagating. They were brought from small islands nearby where predators had not been introduced. The Tuatara is among the re-introduced species. |
