Object history
English: The bas-relief on the pediment of the University of Bucharest was completed in 1862 by Karl Storck. On April 4, 1944, during World War II, the University was bombarded by the Allies. The pediment was severely damaged, and what remained was later taken down as a matter of safety. A considerable number of fragments survive, and as of 2024 at least the bulk of these are on the grounds of the Frederic Storck and Cecilia Cuțescu-Storck Museum in Bucharest. (Karl Storck was Frederic Storck's father.)
