Čeština: JUDr. Karel Stránský (* 5. října 1898 Obříství – 14. dubna 1978 Praha) byl advokátem a sokolským funkcionářem – starostou Sokola v Praze na Malé Straně. Také byl druhým náměstkem Sokolské župy Podbělohorské. Za protektorátu se účastnil domácího odboje. V rámci Akce Sokol byl zatčen gestapem 8. října 1941 a vězněn (až do 5. prosince 1942) v policejní věznici gestapa v Malé pevnosti Terezín. V pražské pankrácké věznici byl držen od 5. prosince 1941 do 14. ledna 1942. Odtud byl deportován dne 5. ledna 1942 do koncentračního tábora Osvětim. Odtud byl propuštěn 2. června 1942. Po návratu z koncentračního tábora v Osvětimi se znovu zapojil (v organizaci Bílý lev) do II. odboje. Po únoru 1948 byl zatčen a komunistickým režimem odsouzen ke dvěma letům nucených prací. V roce 1968 byl rehabilitován.
English: JUDr. Karel Stránský (* October 5, 1898 Obříství - April 14, 1978 Prague) was a lawyer and a Sokol official - mayor of the Sokol in Prague's Lesser Town. He was also the second deputy of the Sokol county of Podbělohorská. During the Protectorate he took part in the domestic resistance. He was arrested by the Gestapo on 8 October 1941 as part of the Sokol Action and imprisoned (until 5 December 1942) in the Gestapo police prison in the Small Fortress of Terezín. He was held in Pankrác Prison in Prague from 5 December 1941 to 14 January 1942. From there he was deported on 5 January 1942 to the Auschwitz concentration camp. From there he was released on 2 June 1942. After returning from the concentration camp in Auschwitz, he again joined the Second Resistance (in the White Lion organisation). After February 1948 he was arrested and sentenced to two years of forced labour by the communist regime. In 1968 he was rehabilitated. |
