KG, architect Max Dudler (2020), Werdauer Weg 3, Berlin-Schöneberg.
During the German fascist (Nazi) era, plans and preparations for the creation of the fascist "World Capital Germania" led to two thirds of the churchyard's area being dedicated in preparation for the (planned but never executed) construction of Germania's South Train Station "Südbahnhof". Numerous graves were removed to the cemetery in Stahnsdorf.
After World War II the churchyard was not restored to its original size. Instead, in the 1970s the Schöneberg motorway junction (Autobahnkreuz Schöneberg) was built on the site that had been deconsecrated in the 1930s.
The present day cemetery includes a large field with war graves, and the churchyard sees itself as "interreligious" [...] "the New Twelve Apostle Cemetery would like to create opportunities for a dignified burial, especially for people of Muslim faith."[2]
