Kankakee River Bridge, Hebron, Indiana Date: 1908 Source Type: Postcard Publisher, Printer, Photographer: Unknown Postmark: ---?--- ??, 1908, Hebron, Indiana Collection: Steven R. Shook Remark: Kay Folsom Nichols mentions this specific bridge in her book The Kankakee, published in 1965. She writes (p. 171): "The first bridge over the River in line with the old Chicago-Vincennes trail was built about 1842, and Bonnie was given the job. On the day of the 'great raisin' neighborhood men gathered to give Bonnie a lift, and the old Hill tavern which was located on the south side of the River at the crossing, treated to whiskey."
