Summary

English: Kandariya Mahadeva Temple Khajuraho is the biggest and largest of the temples in Khajuraho. Situated as part of the Western Group of temples, the temple, since its completion in 1030 AD has been the prime center for any major occassion and celebrations, religious or non-religious amongst all the temples. It was built during the reign of Raja Vidyadhara of Chandela dynasty.
It is said by many (not 100% relevant) Mahmood Ghazni attacked the chandels twice in 3 years to take over khajuraho, but the chandels were so strong during the period, that they and their associated kingdoms around defeated Ghazni both the times. Mahmood Ghazni finally had to decide to leave Khajuraho permanently till later decades. The temple was built as part of recognition of defeating Mahmood Ghazni and since then part of any major celebrations. Just for information of everyone, this temple in itself has a lot to research around its architectural bifurcations.
