Description
English:
István malom (Steven mill). Built with contribution by Antal Pain machinist (from Hamburg) to a two storey, steam mill in 1950 and 1951. Remodelled in 1853. At that time, there were about 60 dry-, water and windmills in the city. In the 1860s owned by Epstein und Simon. Since 1872 owned by Rosenthal. Remodelled to partly three and four storey building in 1892. In 1915 there was an explosion of flour dust and the left wing burned out. It was rebuilt as a 15-railway wagon mill and 250-wagon silo building in 1916 according to the plans of Gusztáv Ádám, city engineer. In 2005, the mill was closed. For some time it was used as a flour dump and selling place. It caught fire in 2019. The roof structure collapsed. A short time later, a large part of the edge side collapsed in a storm. Local grade listed. - 2 Gyulai Road, Kórház Street, Gőzmalom Square, Békéscsaba, Békés County, Hungary.
