Summary
[edit]DescriptionKalktuffbarre Seeburg Ermstal Schwaebische-Alb.jpg |
English: Parish House on top of a 36 m (!) sediment of calcareous tuff in the village of “Seeburg” (Bad Urach), Swabian Alb. Only the upper 6 m of the sediment of rivulet ”Erms” are visible, the rest is garden soil on top of the two rivulets’ floodplain. The karst spring’s water carried enormous amounts of calcareous tuff, which was chemically precipitated along eight terraces over 10 km. The first terrace, seen here, dammed up the branched valleys of rivulet “Fischbach”, thus forming the former lake “Bodenloser See”. Today, only the still well functioning long outlet tunnel, draining rivulet Fischbach since 1616 (!), exists. The constructor, “Heinrich Schickardt”, is famous for many constructions, he did under the authority of the Duke of Württemberg.
