Summary

[edit]
Description

English: travertinesteps of a karstic stream in Franconian Switzerland, (Franconian Alb, Bavaria). ransoms, widespread across most of Europe, here cover completely the floor of a young beech forest. Moist soils, slightly calcic, are favorable conditions. This and several other branches feed the stream “Talbach”, which joins the Wiesent at Ebermannstadt. There are several streams with travertine sediment in this formation in Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg and Croatia (Plitvice Lakes National Park). In the karstic world comparable phenomena are possible.
