Summary

[edit]
Description

English: Watertunnel of 467 meters, planed and realized by master builder “Heinrich Schickhardt” in 1620 (!). The tunnel was dug as to regulary empty lake “Bodenloser See” of Seeburg (a municipal district of Bad Urach). The tunnel was dug right through a 36 meters thick tufa sediment, on which many villages of the Swabian Alb are bedded. 201 years later the emptying was given up, the fishing weirs removed. The carefully paved tunnel walls served the tunnel well, thus rivulet “Fischbach” is still finding its way through it.
