Summary

[edit]
Description

English: Heavily perforated Travertine (ca. 1 m2) from one of 3 rests of sedimentation in the valley of river Bära at “Ensisheim”, West Swabian Alb. The Travertine, when cropped still humid and easy to saw, runs dry and solidifies to become a fairly tough rock. Here the material developed in interglacial times of the interim of Pliocene/Holocene (12000-6000).
In this sample the porosity is very transparent. The subtlety of the material, stems, twigs, air entrapments are frequent, the make very lightweight Travertine.
