| Description |
Deutsch: Einweihung des Kaiser-Wilhelm-Denkmals an der Poststraße (heute Hansering). Wegen des Todes der Mutter von Kaiser Wilhelm II. (der Schwiegertochter des mit dem Denkmal geehrten Kaisers Wilhelm I.) erfolgte die Feier unter Landestrauer. Ehrengast war Friedrich Heinrich Prinz von Preußen. Links die Mitglieder des Denkmalkomitees, rechts Behördenvertreter, im Säulengang links Korporationen, rechts Kriegervereine. Vor dem Kaiser stehen die Paladine v. Bismarck (links) und v. Moltke (rechts). Ein Prokommunist verübte 1923 einen Sprengstoffanschlag auf das Kaiserdenkmal. Das Moltke-Denkmal wurde beschädigt und wiederhergestellt. Bei der Enthüllung am 11. Mai 1924 suchten die rechten Wehrverbände die Kraftprobe mit der preußischen Regierung, die Veranstaltungen und Umzüge unter freiem Himmel verboten hatte. |
