The distinguished young man, our master Rabbi (*a general honorific) Anshel (*Kafka's Jewish name, a Yiddish variant of the Hebrew Asher) peace be upon him

son of the exalted honored Rabbi Henich (*again a general honorific and Jewish name of Herman Kafka) may his candle shine

and his mother's name was Yetel (*=Julie)

may his soul be bound in the bundle of life"
