Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The megalithic rock cut cave at Kandanassery is situated two kilometres south of Ariyannur Umbrellas in Thrissur District. It is entered through a recessed opening, although the opening here is inclined towards east-south east. The inner recess, 0.70m wide and 0.33m high lead in to a chamber with a hemispherical dome and a paraboloid floor. There are benches on three sides, each with three legs cut out of the rock, the hollowed out space between the legs taking the shape of the base of the benches. The benches are not of uniform size. The site is protected under the control of Archaeological Survey of India, Thrissur, since 1951.
