Summary
[edit]DescriptionKTX II (KTX Sancheon) Mockup - Flickr - skinnylawyer.jpg |
This is the mockup of KTX II, later officially named KTX Sancheon, South Korea's indigenous high speed train entering service in 2009. The KTX II, using 10-car trainsets, runs on low-demand routes where the 18-car KTX I is not economical. While South Korea had licensed Alstom's technology and license-produced the French TGV as KTX I to ensure timely introduction of high-speed rail service, it had continued to work on and refine its indigenous high speed train behind the scenes. South Korea is eager to export the KTX II as well. It will be submitted to the California High Speed Rail project as a possible rolling stock candidate. |
