Michała Archanioła i św. Jerzego w zamurowanych oknach prezbiterium oraz legendę św. Cecylii w starej zakrystii. W wyposażeniu świątyni zwraca uwagę renesansowa, kamienna chrzcielnica, sztukaterie z końca XVIII w. w nawie oraz barokowe, XVIII-wieczne ołtarze w prezbiterium i nawie. --- Parish Church of Ten Thousand Martyrs in Niepołomice Niepołomice parish church is the oldest architectural monument in the town, founded by King Kazimierz Wielki (Casimir the Great) from 1350 to 1358. The Gothic church of Virgin Mary and the Ten Thousand Martyrs was initially a two-aisle hall structure. In the course of numerous remodelling projects, it was turned into a one-nave church, but the Gothic shell and some details of the interior survived. The most interesting of these include vaults with carved keystones in the chancel and the sacristy, as well as murals on the chancel wall. Financed by Elżbieta Łokietkówna, the murals depict St Michael the Archangel and St George in the blind windows in the chancel, and the legend of St Cecilia in the old sacristy. Stylistically, the murals seem to suggest the Italian origin of their creator, probably from Umbria or Siena. In the interior, a Renaissance baptismal font made of stone can be seen, as well as late 18th-century stuccoes in the nave and Baroque altars in the nave and chancel. Adjoining the church in the south is the funerary chapel of the Branicki family. Erected by Jan Branicki in 1596, it is a typical domed chapel, following the pattern of Sigismund’s chapel in the Wawel cathedral in Kraków. The chapel, most probably designed by Santi Gucci, is covered with a dome upon pendentives, with a lantern and flamboyant decorations. The dome’s pendentives feature cartouches, while the walls are divided by blind arcades with pilasters and compound arches decorated with carved floral motifs and caissons. Mannerist furnishings, with a prominent tombstone of the founder, complete the interior. The central position in the Branicki chapel belongs to the tombstone of Katarzyna and Grzegorz Branicki made of marble and sandstone, portraying the kneeling figures of the departed. The chapel of St Charles Boromeus at the opposite end of the church, in the north, was founded by Stanisław Lubomirski in 1640. It is also square-shaped and has a dome with a lantern. On the outside it is lined with pilasters and fretted ironwork. The interior, segmented by pilasters and niches with embellished compound arches, is covered with abundant stucco decorations. Baskets of fruit, rosettes and the putti are the creations of John the Baptist Falconi. In semicircular niches, scenes from Charles Boromeus’s life can be seen.
