| Description | Getting a taxi in KL is not an easy task, and I had to wait nearly 20min until an empty one came by. Earlier that day I'd waited 45min for a taxi, not one came around, which is why I'd decided to walk to Merdeka Sqr. anyway. The Indian taxi driver (Indian taxi drivers have a very bad reputation in KL, something told to me by many people including, surprise,surprise, the Indian taxi driver who brought me here!) set me down one street before Chinatown, saying this is it, probably due to traffic restrictions in the crowded part of town. Something did not seem right, as Chinatown is marked by a big arch at its entrance. Anyway, the area seemed familiar (from my 2002 visit), so I got off anyway. Jan/ Feb. 2012. |
