Title
KENT-DC8DC6: Possibly a Roman Nail Cleaner
Description
English: Possibly a incomplete Roman nail cleaner of type 2a. The suspension loop is missing, as is the tip of the blade. The remaining section of the nail cleaner is 43mm long and leaf shaped. The shoulders are 11mm at their widest point while the tip is 4mm wide. The surface is decorated with a central line of squares along its length and a narrow groove running parallel to the edges. Cast in copper alloy, the nail cleaner now has a light green patina due to corrosion. Nail cleaners of this shape date to the 1st and 2nd centuries AD. Similar shape can be seen in Crummy 1983, page 58.
