Title
KENT-936125. Ring or annular buckle. Front view.
Description
English: 1350-1400. Copper alloy, cast, medium size, plain ring or annular buckle with separate pin. Length 25.2mm, Width 20.8mm, Thickness 5.5mm, Diameter 25.2mm, Weight 3.2g. Slightly oval shaped now probably as a result of distortion/damage by the plough or similar. The pin is constructed from a narrow tapered piece of sheeting - it seems to have a central recess running along its length on the back surface but also curved in the centre from the tension put upon it during use. When the material was put through the ring and then the pin pushed through it and any excess material was then pulled back the buckle was then tensioned and secured. The frame also has an oval cross-section. It has a pale green attractive patina and there appears to be a few small areas of silvering. Ref.
