Description
English: Hoysala architecture works on the walls of Chennakeshava Temple, Belur, Karnataka, India. From the left to right are carvings of Govinda (one of the 24 names of Lord Vishnu), Janardana (another of the 24), Chamunda (a fierce form of Devi, usually depicted as an old lady), 32 cornered pillar (half of the vertices, facing us, is seen), and Lord Shiva killing Jalandhara. Some of the items to note are in the detail work of Chamunda, where-in the wrinkled skin, sagging body parts, etc., are creatively done. Also included in that sculpture is a small scorpion on the belly of the lady (see annotations).
