| Description | A close-up view of a Kōwenewene pūtōrino - the bottom aperture of a pūtōrino that is used as a fingerstop (wenewene) in playing. When effected a microtonal difference in pitch is expressed. This particular hole is around 4mm wide. Some pūtōrino have a very much larger hole here, while others have none at all. The pūtōrino is a traditional Māori musical instrument. |
