Eesti: Nisu sordiaretuse eesmärgid Eestis on hea talvekindlus, hea saagivõime, hea haiguskindlus, meie kliimasse sobiv kasvuaeg, hea küpsetuskvaliteet jne. Tihti on väga hea saagivõimega sortidel veidi kehvem küpsetuskvaliteet. Saak ja kvaliteet kipuvad olema negatiivses korrelatsioonis. Lisaks proteiini ja kleepevalgu sisaldusele, mis on nisu kõige tuntumad kvaliteedi näitajad, teeme ka küpsetustestid. Ühel päeval on võimalik ette antud metoodika järgi teha 4-5 küpsetust. Lisaks paljudele arvulistele tulemustele on üks hindamise kriteerium ka visuaalne pilt. Aretaja käib igal hommikul laboris uurimas eelmise päeval tehtud pätse. Pilt on tehtud Eesti Taimekasvatuse Instituudis.
