Description

Portrait of Elisabeth Therese of Lorraine (1711-1741), wife of Carlo Emanuele III of Sardinia (1701-1773).

"One of her brothers was Emperor Franz I Stephan, husband to Maria Theresia of Austria. She herself married Karl Emmanuel III of Sardinia in 1737, but died just four years later at the age of 29. The gilt embroidery on her ermine lined cloak is a symbol of the Savoy Order of the Most Holy Annunciation. A similar portrait of Elisabeth Therese is kept in the castle at Innsbruck." [1]
