Description

The Cologne Cathedral, once the tallest building in the world.

During World War II, it was one of the few buildings to survive the extensive Allied aerial bombings.

I have just arrived in Köln for a day trip. Köln traces back to the original Roman settlement of Colonia ("colony") and is written in English as Cologne. This is my first-ever visit to Germany, and I have my visit planned as a 7-hour day trip from Amsterdam, Netherlands, a 3-hour train ride away.
