Description
Nederlands: Käthe Kollwitz Museum, in het museum maak je kennis met de Duitse kunstenares Käthe Kollwitz, een expressionistische Duitse kunstenares. Haar aanklacht tegen de oorlog en sociale onderdrukking samen met het feit dat kinderen het grootste slachtoffer zijn in oorlogen vormt het hoofdthema. In het museum kom je dan ook meer te weten over haar eigen zoon. Hij sneuvelde als Duitse WOI-frontsoldaat op de dag van zijn aankomst in de westhoek. Om haar verdriet te verwerken maakte Käthe een beeld van treurende ouders ('Het Treurend Ouderpaar'). Dit meesterwerk staat nu op de Duitse militaire begraafplaats van Vladslo.
