At Lubeck and Rostock, 23 This hymn was also printed in the Weyrauchs Hug el (No.475» P- 54°) and Sauers Psalterspiel (No. 361). It is not known to a certainty how long the academicterm of young Falckner lasted at Halle. When he leftthat institution he was what wasknown as a Candidat Theologiaor a candidate for holy orders. It appears that, after he leftHalle, he went to Lubeck andRostock. The former city wasthe birthplace of his friend andtutor, Aug. H. Francke, the lat-ter a university town, whose greatseat of learning up to a few yearsbefore was presided over bythe renown Dr. Heinrich Miiller(Muhlen). Both of these cities had for some years beencenters of pietistic activity. Whether Justus Falckner studied or spent any time atthe university at Rostock has not been determined. Froma document found in the library there, it is shown that hespent some time in the Duchy of Schleswig, and was aidedand befriended by a son and namesake of the noted pie-tistic theologian Dominie Heinrich
