Description |
Français : Comme l'ancien dieu de l'orage hittite, le Jupiter dolichénien est debout sur un taureau, de face, la main gauche tenant un foudre, et le bras droit levé. Mais sa tenue (cuirasse de cuir à lambrequins, manteau agrafé à l'épaule — le paludamentum) est celle des emprerurs romains, qui ont, comme lui, l'omnipotence, y compris sur l'armée. Son culte se diffuse largement dans toutes les provinces de l'Empire où la présence militaire est importante, notemment dans les provinces danubiennes. |
