Description
English: On May 1, about 300,000 demonstrators gathered on the first May Day after the peace. The two rode a station wagon with the driver and headed for the interview. The demonstrators became more fierce over time, eventually becoming "Blood May Day Incident " when the demonstrators and the police clashed. Police used tear gas to counter the demonstrators attacking with stones and square sticks. Some of the excited demonstrators said "Yankee Go Home" to the car that Miki and Bourke-White were riding in and hit them with a placard. A stone was thrown at the car and the window was messed up. Still, Bourke-White stood on the car and kept pressing the shutter. Miki was afraid of the riots, but when she saw her, she couldn't flinch. This photo was taken during the "Blood May Day Incident" covering.
