Description
Español: El rey Nabuconodosor envía a Holofernes, su general, para hacer capitular a los pueblos de inclinarse ante el rey. Betulia, pueblo donde vive Judith se niega .

Judith entra al momento de enterarse que Betulia va a ser entregada, por lo que se presenta ante el consejo de ancianos: “Y ahora, hermanos, mostremos a nuestros conciudadanos que de nosotros pende no sólo nuestra vida, sino que el santuario, el templo y el altar sobre nosotros se apoyan. Demos gracias al Señor, nuestro Dios, que nos prueba igual que a nuestros padres” (8, 24-25).

Judith maquina un plan para el final de Holofernes, cortarle la cabeza. Por lo que ora a Dios pidiéndole fortaleza para realizar tal hazaña.

Va directo al campamento donde se encuentra Holofernes. Lo seduce y lo engaña al decirle que ha escapado de su pueblo y es su esclava. Al retirarse todos, quedan Judith y Holofernes solos, ella se encomienda ante Dios y acercándose a él, lo golpea dos veces y le corta la cabeza.

Al día siguiente, el pueblo donde pertenecía Holofernes, descubren a su general decapitado quedando conmocionados sin saber cómo reaccionar.
