Journet (Vienne) Prieuré de Villesalem. L'église remonte au XIIe siècle, et le bâtiment conventuel, à droite, aux XVIIe - XVIIIe siècles.
En 1089, des ermites venant de l'abbaye de Fontgombault s'installent sur des terres données par le seigneur de la Tremoille. En 1108, ces ermites quittent les lieux et font don des terrains qu'ils occupaient à l'abbaye de Fontevrault nouvellement créée. L'abbaye de Fontgombault conteste le don. Pour résoudre le conflit, le seigneur de la Trémoille dédommage l'abbaye de Fontgombault et d'autres seigneurs donnent des terres pour la création du Prieuré de Villesalem. En 1109, l'évêque de Poitiers donne son accord pour la fondation du prieuré. Dix ans plus tard, le pape Calixte III confirmera la dépendance du prieuré à l'abbaye de Fontevrault. A sa création le prieuré comprenait l'église, le cloître, aujourd'hui disparu, et au-delà de la clôture, le prieuré des hommes dont subsistent quelques bâtiments. Le prieuré, aux dimensions d’une abbaye, réunissait des religieuses Bénédictines cloîtrées et des moines, placés sous l'autorité des moniales, pour l'entretien des terres. Soeurs et moines étaient dans des bâtiments séparés. La guerre de Cent Ans, et probablement les guerres de Religion, seront à l'origine de destructions importantes. Au XVIIe siècle, une nouvelle règle est adoptée et de nouveaux bâtiments sont construits. Suite à la Révolution, le prieuré et son vaste patrimoine foncier sont vendus aux enchères (1791). Le premier premier acquéreur est le riche avocat Jean-François Charles Nouveau-Dupin. Devenu bâtiment agricole, le prieuré fut racheté par l’Etat en 1961.
